This project supports the rebuilding of social cohesion and economic development in the Sikasso region (Mali) and Hauts-Bassins (Burkina Faso) by improving community access to infrastructure and fostering intercommunity dialogue. It enhances the economic, political, and social stability of border communities, strengthening their resilience to resolve local conflicts and prevent violent extremism.
Given the fragile context of these border regions, sustaining local ownership of peacebuilding approaches is essential. The project’s first phase has established a foundation for community dialogue. The long-term vision is to improve access to climate-resilient economic and social infrastructure, strengthen community capacity to manage such infrastructure and natural resources effectively and promote social dialogue, collaboration, and conflict mitigation to reduce tensions.
