My passion for peacebuilding started 20 years ago in the global north, but was really ignited through my research, human rights documentation and peacebuilding work in Eastern and Central Africa and South-East Asia with survivors of armed conflict. As an author of numerous academic articles and the biography “Boy Soldier, a memoir of innocence lost and humanity regained in northern Uganda”, I believe in the power of storytelling and the importance of documenting the experiences, needs and aspirations of people affected by war and ensuring that peacebuilding work is responsive to these needs and aspirations. As Interpeace’s Senior Regional Representative for Eastern and Central Africa I currently cover our programmes in Somalia/Somaliland, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, DR Congo and the Great Lakes, and I am blessed to work with very experienced and dedicated peacebuilders in all these programmes.
