Conclusion

Peace is an evolving, long-term journey. A year is a mere fraction on this continuum, yet has the capacity to capture monumental shifts and significant breakthroughs. As this Annual Report underscores, 2025 saw the implementation of numerous initiatives supporting communities and actors working to build peace across national, regional, and international landscapes. Even if presented as highlights of the past year, the changes we contributed to were made possible by the legacy and trust we have built with those working at the frontlines of peace for decades.

While working to enable resilient peace, we witnessed multilateral structures sway. The insecurity pushed the sector – us included – to scrutinize its foundations and reassert the pillars making our impact possible. The drafting of this report made the bond between the change we enabled and the power of our partnerships visible. These partnerships are at the core of our organisational resilience and enable us to launch forward-looking initiatives that pave the way for novel forms of engagement. Strengthening peace requires the courage to adapt, cooperate, and innovate together – and partners who make it possible to do so.

Furthermore, the past year saw concrete efforts taken towards enhanced efficiency. The new Strategic Framework will be accompanied with an updated change measurement framework giving us the needed tools to better analyse achievement, refine practices, and innovate across approaches and contexts based on grounded understandings and learnings. These are all steps that ensure that we are able to use our resources strategically and support the change we seek together.

Amid global political turbulence, dire statistics, and organisational changes, the human face of violence must not be forgotten. Just as 30 years ago, our work, relevance, and mandate begin and end with the communities impacted by conflict.
