Promotion de la participation des femmes à la gouvernance

The Burundi programme takes into account gender balance and encourages parity and a better representation of women's interests and needs in decision-making bodies at all levels. The Programme has succeeded in increasing the participation of women to more than 30% of participants during programmatic interventions such as local dialogue meetings, community development activities and decision-making at the individual, family, and community levels. Through training, the programme has offered and continues to offer regular support and mentorship for women, equipping them with skills to articulate their needs and interests within their own communities and in wider political spheres (local, provincial, national). Men have also been trained to deepen their understanding of the plight of marginalised communities and facilitate the construction of positive masculinity, enabling them to actively support the promotion of women led initiatives in the private, public, and political spheres. Gender transformative work remains a concern of the Burundi Programme.
