Guinée-Bissau

For decades, Guinea-Bissau has experienced political turmoil, including successive coups and violent confrontations between political authorities and the military. Prolonged instability has impeded effective governance and contributed to growing insecurity, leading to a widespread sentiment of abandonment by the state. This feeling is particularly strong among younger generations, who have never experienced a functioning state nor societal and economic inclusion. While capacities to counter these grievances and promote good governance exist, volatility continues to destabilise democratic governance processes.

Notre travail

Since 2007, Interpeace has collaborated with the peacebuilding organisation Voz di Paz to address the root causes of conflict, including political and institutional instability, poor administration of justice, social exclusion, and a fragile culture of dialogue. Since initiation, our engagements have been built on three pillars: conflict prevention and management; fostering accountability through citizen engagement and dialogue with authorities; as well as promoting inclusive services by improving access in sectors such as justice, health, and education.
