Justice for All the People – Improving access to justice through legal empowerment and judicial reform in Guinea-Bissau

Rule of law and the justice system in Guinea-Bissau remain fragile, exacerbated by lack of a shared vision and national ownership for a comprehensive and inclusive justice sector.

Reforms that incorporating national priorities, civil society perspectives, and traditional systems remains a fundamental challenge to achieving justice for all. To improve the population’s access to quality justice at the community level, particularly for women and vulnerable groups, Voz di Paz and Interpeace promote the implementation and recognition of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms, specifically mediation and Restorative Justice approaches. By strengthening gender-sensitive mediation services, the approach ensures inclusive, equitable, and culturally appropriate conflict resolution solutions.

Furthermore, evidence generation, which includes the completion of a Justice Barometer, remains a central pillar of the initiative ensuring context-specific solutions.
