Derrick Ndahiro – Rwanda

Derrick Ndahiro, a young innovator from Rwanda, is the visionary founder of Wikimedia User Group (WUG) Rwanda. WUG is an organisation committed to enhancing articles on Wikimedia Foundation projects and promoting open access to knowledge in both Kinyarwanda and English. His dedication and leadership have led to the successful execution of 14 projects in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Wikimedia Foundation, National Museums Institute, Rwanda Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs, Swedish Embassy in Rwanda, Goethe Institute, New Times, IGIHE.com, and Office of the Government Spokesperson.

Selected and mentored by Never Again Rwanda to participate in the Great Lakes Youth Lab programme, Derrick’s outstanding contributions to knowledge dissemination and innovation have earned him recognition as a Young Innovator. Engaging actively in various programme activities such as training, workshops, and dialogues, he has developed a profound understanding of peacebuilding principles and practises. Now, he is channelling his acquired skills and experiences to craft compelling stories on peacebuilding and spearhead new initiatives that foster peace.
