{"id":639,"date":"2012-09-28T09:57:42","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T07:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/interpeace2026.wpenginepowered.com\/2012\/09\/28\/bringing-peace-into-the-post-2015-development-framework-a-joint-statement-by-civil-society-organizations\/"},"modified":"2015-07-28T14:55:00","modified_gmt":"2015-07-28T12:55:00","slug":"bringing-peace-into-the-post-2015-development-framework-a-joint-statement-by-civil-society-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.interpeace.org\/fr\/2012\/09\/bringing-peace-into-the-post-2015-development-framework-a-joint-statement-by-civil-society-organizations\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing Peace Back In: A Joint Statement by Civil Society"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Supporting change in conflict-affected and fragile states is now the central challenge in international development.<\/p>\n<p>Given the need to link conflict prevention and peacebuilding with development in conflict-affected areas \u2013 and to prevent violent conflict in all societies \u2013 the endorsing organizations jointly urge UN member states, the High-Level Panel, System Task Team on the Post-2015 UN Development Agenda and all other stakeholders involved to include conflict prevention and peacebuilding commitments in the post-2015 development framework.<\/p>\n<p>To do so the post-2015 framework should:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Include commitments to address key drivers of conflict \u2013 not only its symptoms<\/li>\n<li>Go beyond including a single \u2018peace\u2019 goal defined solely in terms of the absence of violence<\/li>\n<li>Build on the framework for addressing drivers of conflict articulated in the Peacebuilding and Statebuilding Goals (PSGs) and other credible peacebuilding frameworks<\/li>\n<li>Define peace and development as best upheld by states that are inclusive, responsive, fair and accountable to all their people<\/li>\n<li>Include commitments to address regional and global factors that fuel conflict<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the indicators used to measure progress are disaggregated, so that unequal levels of progress between different social groups can be recognised and tackled<\/li>\n<li>Draw on the indicators being developed under the International Dialogue on Peacebuilding and Statebuilding (IDPS) for establishing post-2015 indicators<\/li>\n<li>Be based on a consultation process that actively includes people and civil society from conflict-affected states and seeks out robust evidence of how to address drivers of conflict<\/li>\n<li>Avoid making commitments to peace optional -establish global commitments to pursue<br \/>\nsustainable peace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Download the joint statement:<br \/>\n<a class=\"doclink\" href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=332&amp;Itemid=194\">anglais<\/a> | <a class=\"doclink\" href=\"index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=doc_download&amp;gid=333&amp;Itemid=194\">fran\u00e7ais<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Supporting change in conflict-affected and fragile states is now the central challenge in international development.
