L\u2019Institut Malien de Recherche Action pour la Paix (IMRAP<\/strong>) is organizing, in partnership with Interpeace, the official presentation of the findings of its large-scale participatory action research process on the solutions for Peace in Mali, on Thursday the 30th of June 2016, at the Hotel Salam (fleuve district), at 10 am<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event will take place with high-level representatives from the government, the Malian elite, as well as representatives of the main chancellery, organizations and national and international agencies. This will be an opportunity to present the two reports and movies on the solutions to the challenges of the \u201cmutation of societal values\u201d and \u201cchronic insecurity\u201d, elaborated by Malians. Those two obstacles to peace had been identified as Priorities to Peace by Malians during a first research process, which had led to the publication of a movie and a report entitled Mali\u2019s Self-Portrait on obstacles to peace<\/em><\/a>, in March 2015.<\/p>\n

Depuis la publication d\u2019 Self-Portrait<\/em>, IMRAP, guided by two Malian Steering Committees, has been travelling to every Malian region, as well as neighboring refugee camps in Mauritania and Niger. Through open and secure spaces of dialogue, more than 2000 Malians from every walk of life have deepened the diagnosis and elaborated solutions to the \u201cmutation of societal values<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cchronic insecurity<\/strong>\u201d, with a particular focus on the crisis of trust between the civilian population and the Security and Defense Forces (SDF). This official presentation will be the first opportunity to share the findings of this research with all stakeholders concerned with sustainable peace in Mali.<\/p>\n

This participatory action research led by IMRAP with the support of Interpeace is based on the conviction that solutions to obstacles faced by Malians need to be elaborated and owned by them, in order to establish sustainable and efficient remedies. It is based on a four step process: (i) consultations at a circle-level through the organization of more than 70 dialogue sessions and around 40 individual interviews, (ii) regional restitution aimed at validating and deepening the preliminary analysis of Malians emerging from the initial consultations, (iii) the National Conference organized in May 2016 which gathered representatives from all levels of society, from every Malian region and refugee camp, with the aim of presenting, deepening and validating the solutions of Malians, (iv) the stage of implementation of the solutions, which will start after the official presentation. Furthermore, this presentation constitutes one of the steps taken as part of the wider campaign of dissemination of the findings at the level of regions and refugee camps.<\/p>\n

IMRAP<\/strong>, the Malian Institute of Action Research for Peace, is a Malian association created under Malian law, license No. 0590\/G-DB on 21 May 2014 by Malians committed to reflecting on peacebuilding. The Institute is comprised of two governing bodies: the Board of Governors and the Executive Management. The latter is responsible for the implementation of the programme entitled \u201cAgenda pour la paix, la reconciliation et la cohesion sociale au Mali\u201d accross the whole country.<\/p>\n

Interpeace<\/strong> is an independent international peacebuilding organization. Interpeace was initially established in 1994 by the United Nations to develop innovative solutions to build peace. Interpeace has a proven and recognized approach to enable societies to build lasting peace. Interpeace continues to be a strategic partner of the United Nations. Present in the West Africa region since 2007, Interpeace has a Regional Office in Abidjan to strengthen local peacebuilding processes, notably in C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, and Mali.<\/p>\n

The first participatory action research process which led to the publication in March 2015 of the movie and the report entitled Mali\u2019s Self-portrait on obstacles to Peace received the financial support of the European Union and the Kingdom of Denmark, with a contribution from the kingdom of Norway. <\/em><\/p>\n

The programme <\/em>Agenda pour la Paix, la r\u00e9conciliation et la coh\u00e9sion sociale<\/em><\/strong>, is implemented by IMRAP in partnership with Interpeace, with financial support from the European Union and the Kingdom of Denmark.<\/em><\/p>\n

L\u2019Institut Malien de Recherche Action pour la Paix (IMRAP<\/strong>)\u00a0organise, en partenariat avec Interpeace, la pr\u00e9sentation officielle des r\u00e9sultats de son vaste processus de recherche-action participative men\u00e9 autour des solutions pour la paix au Mali, le jeudi 30 juin 2016 \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4tel Salam (quartier du fleuve)<\/strong>, \u00e0 partir de 10 heures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

La c\u00e9r\u00e9monie se tiendra en pr\u00e9sence de hauts repr\u00e9sentants du gouvernement, de l\u2019\u00e9lite malienne ainsi que des repr\u00e9sentants des principales chancelleries, organisations et agences nationales et internationales. Elle sera l\u2019occasion de pr\u00e9senter les deux rapports et films sur les solutions \u00e9labor\u00e9es par les Maliens r\u00e9pondant aux d\u00e9fis de la \u00ab\u00a0Mutation des valeurs<\/strong> soci\u00e9tales<\/strong> \u00bb et de l\u2019\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 chronique<\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb. Ces deux d\u00e9fis avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9s comme Priorit\u00e9 \u00e0 la Paix<\/strong> par les Maliens lors d\u2019un premier processus de recherche qui avait conduit \u00e0 la publication en mars 2015 du film et du rapport \u00a0intitul\u00e9s Autoportrait du Mali sur les obstacles \u00e0 la Paix<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Depuis la publication de l\u2019Autoportrait<\/em>, l\u2019IMRAP, guid\u00e9 par deux Comit\u00e9s de pilotage maliens, a sillonn\u00e9 l\u2019ensemble des r\u00e9gions maliennes ainsi que les camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s en Mauritanie et au Niger. Au sein d\u2019espaces de dialogue ouverts et s\u00e9curis\u00e9s, pr\u00e8s de 2.000 Maliens de la base aux \u00e9lites ont approfondi le diagnostic et \u00e9labor\u00e9 des solutions pour faire face \u00e0 la \u00ab\u00a0Mutation des valeurs soci\u00e9tales\u00a0\u00bb et \u00ab\u00a0l\u2019Ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 chronique\u00a0\u00bb, notamment la crise de confiance entre les Forces de d\u00e9fense et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (FDS) et les populations civiles. La pr\u00e9sentation officielle sera la premi\u00e8re occasion de partager les r\u00e9sultats de cette recherche avec toutes les parties prenantes \u00e0 une paix durable au Mali.<\/p>\n

La recherche-action participative men\u00e9e par IMRAP avec le soutien d\u2019Interpeace repose sur la conviction que les solutions aux d\u00e9fis auxquels les Maliens sont confront\u00e9s doivent \u00eatre \u00e9labor\u00e9es et appropri\u00e9es par eux-m\u00eames, afin d\u2019apporter des rem\u00e8des efficaces et durables. Elle se base sur une d\u00e9marche en 4 \u00e9tapes\u00a0: (i) les consultations au niveau des cercles par le biais de plus de 70 s\u00e9ances de dialogue et une quarantaine d\u2019entretiens individuels, (ii) les restitutions r\u00e9gionales visant \u00e0 valider et approfondir l\u2019analyse pr\u00e9liminaire des Maliens \u00e9mergeant des consultations initiales, (iii) la Conf\u00e9rence Nationale organis\u00e9e en mai 2016 qui a rassembl\u00e9 des repr\u00e9sentants de toutes les couches de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des r\u00e9gions maliennes et des camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s, dont le but \u00e9tait de pr\u00e9senter, d\u2019approfondir et de valider les solutions des Maliens (iv) la phase de mise en \u0153uvre de ces solutions, qui d\u00e9butera \u00e0 la suite de la pr\u00e9sentation officielle. Par ailleurs, cette pr\u00e9sentation constitue une \u00e9tape d\u2019une campagne plus large de diss\u00e9mination des r\u00e9sultats de la recherche au niveau des r\u00e9gions et des camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s.<\/p>\n
