Interpeace has been selected among the Top 100 NGOs in the world, a ranking conducted by the Global Journal. Focused on taking a fresh look at Global Governance, Issues & Players, the Global Journal analysed 1,000 NGOs from around the world.<\/p>\n

\"Recognizing the significant role of NGOs as influential agents of change on a global scale, The Global Journal has sought to move beyond outdated clich\u00e9s and narrow conceptions about what an NGO is and does. From humanitarian relief to the environment, public health to education, microfinance to intellectual property, NGOs are increasingly at the forefront of developments shaping the lives of millions of people around the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The list is made up of NGOs making a transformative difference in the world. The selection was based on several factors including:<\/p>\n

- Effectiveness<\/strong> \u2013 delivery against objectives;<\/p>\n

- Impact<\/strong> \u2013 outcome over output;<\/p>\n

- Transparency & accountability<\/strong> - level of reporting; and<\/p>\n

- Innovation<\/strong> \u2013 fresh approaching to old problems.<\/p>\n

The Interpeace entry states our unusual origins, starting out as a United Nations pilot project back in 1994. Our unique approach to building lasting peace in countries touched by conflict through inclusive and nationally-led processes of change is highlighted. Scott M. Weber, Interpeace Director-General is quoted summarising the process: \u201cre-stitching the social fabric of society.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Journal states: \u201cInterpeace\u2019s sustainable peacebuilding approach is rooted in a desire to assist societies develop their own local capacities to deal with conflict without resorting to violence or coercion.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are honoured that the Global Journal ranked Interpeace among the top 100 best NGOs in the world. Our work and achievements are only possible due to the commitment and hard work of our local partners - over 300 peacebuilders that make up the Interpeace family and our donors,\u201d confirms Scott Weber.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur peacebuilders are influential individuals with profound contextual knowledge, network, and ability to connect grassroots stakeholders to decision-makers. This is a testament to the work we are doing around the world to improve the lives of people living in conflict-affected countries to bring about a more peaceful future.\u201d concludes Scott.<\/p>\n
