This self-portrait of 'Challenges to Lasting Peace' in Burundi is the result of twelve months of participatory research conducted by the local Interpeace partner CENAP throughout Burundi. The report aims to achieve a better understanding of the concerns and expectations of peace of different sectors of Burundian society. The consultations have targeted both individuals and groups from all levels and sectors of society. During the consultations participants identified various obstacles to lasting peace: The challenges of democracy and the rule of law; poverty and economic recovery; land issues; the security problem; and social fragility.
