This video shows the Mobile Audio-Visual team in action, pursuing its awareness raising campaign on piracy in Puntland with a visit to the coastal town of Gara’ad, in the Jariban District. The short film screened in coastal villages emphasizes the fact that despite its promises of easy profit, piracy has a negative impact on everyone in one way or the other.

Planting democracy in Puntland

As part of Puntland’s preparations for local elections in 2012, a team from our local partner, the Puntland Development Research Center, accompanied the Transitional Puntland Electoral Commission on a tour to raise awareness of the democratization process.

Women, poetry and video: The success of an inventive peacebuilding tool in Puntland

This video shows the work of the women of the Bari region of Puntand in their pursuit of peace. They brought their creativity into play to convey messages of peace among two separate communities and helped to bring warring clans back to the negotiation table. The women wrote and performed their calls for peace in the form of poetry and song, which was captured on film and compiled into short video clips by the Puntland Development Research Center and then shared with both communities.

Somali women: A force for peace

This video portrays Somali women as extraordinary peacebuilders for whom peace must be attained “at any cost.” It emphasizes the importance of women in society and in the economy, highlighting the importance of investing in girls’ education.
