Krister Kumlin is a former Swedish Ambassador and the President of the Swedish Parthenon Committee. After receiving his law degree from Stockholm University in 1962, he entered the Swedish Foreign Service and served at Swedish embassies in Washington DC, Guatemala City, Bangkok, Paris, and at the Permanent Swedish Delegation to the United Nations in New York. He also served as the Vice President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 1985 and 1986. After returning to Stockholm he became Secretary-General of the Stockholm International Forum and Executive Secretary of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Security Forum. He has organized several major international political conferences in Stockholm. Krister Kumlin retired as Senior Advisor to the Swedish Emergency Management Agency and Chairman of ISO/TC233, Societal Security in 2012.
